As an added feature to the Riley Balsa Wood surfboard range we are now using high-tech microtaging technology on our surfboards to prevent theft. Riley Balsa is the first surfboard company worldwide to use this technology to personally identify the owner of a surfboard and prevent the theft of a surfer’s most precious item.
Microtags are tiny tags the size of a grain of sand and are difficult to see with the naked eye. The tag is coded with an “asset identification number” that is registered to the owner on a secure web-based site. 1,000’s of these tiny tags (1mm square) are placed under the fibreglass during the manufacturing process, making them impossible to remove.
This high tech form of property marking means the owner of a Riley Balsa Board can always prove ownership. If a board is ever “miss placed” and turns up in a surfshop across the country, the owner of the surfshop can enter the number on the tag into the secure website to instantly find out if the board has been stolen and ascertain the correct owner.
“Car manufactures have been using microdot technology successfully to prevent theft for years, we are proving to our customers that we are committed to preventing the theft of these beautiful boards once they have been purchased” said Mark
