Pre shaped solid Malibu blank
This blank is solid balsa wood. We pre-shape the blank for you depending on what you are after - any size and stringer combination is possible (Fill out our custom order form - download here). The plan shape, rocker, dome on the deck and bottom will then be set when the blank arrives on your doorstep. You need to finish the rails off with a planer & sandpaper. Then cut and sand tail & nose to your liking. Do an overall finish, sand the board once more and it's ready for glassing. This blank is best for shaping a replica board of the 50's and 60's. You can re-create a part of surfing history and explore what it was like to ride a solid balsa board.
This blank is suitable for you if you are after a new experience, not for high performance surfing.

Simple solid Malibu blank
This blank is also made of solid balsa wood. However, it is not pre-shape so you have the freedom of choosing your own plan shape etc. The only thing we have already done is cut out the rocker and glued the balsa sticks together.

If you are keen on building your own high performance longboard this is your blank. This 3mm balsa-skinned blank features a recycled EPS (Expanded Polystyrene Foam) foam core making it one of the lightest blanks available (only 5-6 kgs). The blank is pre-shaped, the plan shape, rocker, dome on the deck and bottom are set. You need to finish the rails off with a planer & sandpaper. Cut and sand tail & nose to your liking. Do an overall finish, sand the board once more and it's ready for glassing. Due to the unique combination of Balsa and EPS, the finished board has great flex and flotation characteristics. It will be the strongest and most durable in your quiver.
